Shiwa Town, Iwate Prefecture, is drawing attention from all over Japan and even overseas due to the successful development of the Ogal project.
The town has received support from Toyo University since fiscal 2007, before the project was even launched. One of the points of Ogal project's success is the idea of focusing investment on the JR Shiwa Chuo Station area and then spreading the economic effect to the entire town.
The project is currently in the phase of boosting the spreading of the effect. In 2020, the town publicly recruited businesses to utilize the former site of the government office, which was relocated to the Ogal project area, and the best proposal was selected.
The selected proposal of Hidumenoyu Co., Ltd. is to rent the land from the town and build a complex facility that includes a hot bath facility, a convenience store, a brewery to produce cider by using locally grown apples and a restaurant where you can enjoy foods made with local ingredients. The company aims to open the facility in the spring of fiscal 2022.
